David Arias is a Puerto Rican video editor living and freelancing in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from the Art Institute of Atlanta back in 2018 where he earned a bachelor's degree in digital film and video production. He also became a certified Avid Media Composer User while attending Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD Atlanta) in 2020.
For all of his works, David uses the “DaVinci Resolve” roundtrip workflow where he creates proxies of the footage with data burn-ins on them. After the proxies are created, he sends them over to either Media Composer or Premiere Pro to be edited. Once the picture is locked, he resends the proxies back to DaVinci Resolve where he relinks them to the original files, color grades the footage, and exports the final mix deliverables for the film.
In under 5 years, David colored, and video edited several short films that went on to win awards in film festivals across the globe. His editing work on the short film, “Conflict”, for Chozen Productions won him “Best Editing” at the Sweet Democracy Film Awards in April 2022 as well as sharing the “Silver Telly” award with his production crew in the same year.
